The model is used to determine the currency exposures of equity portfolios which may be hedged or adjusted using currency instruments like forward FX contracts. The model\u2019s business owners and sole users are the International Equity department of the US Asset Management business line of Ameriprise Financial; the model does not support Ameriprise Bank in any way. Since the model\u2019s key inputs include historical returns of equities and FX rates, insufficient return history is a limitation of the model. Likewise, the model cannot forecast equity exposures to pegged currencies as their FX rate history is typically slow-changing though sometimes punctuated by extreme rate changes as pegs are imposed or relaxed; these types of FX rate histories do not lend themselves to historically-based statistical estimates of co-movement.
